V2V tech deployment ‘raises novel and extremely complex issues’

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) recently proposed a rule that would help spread the deployment of connected vehicle technologies across the light-duty passenger vehicle fleet. It believes that thousands of crashes can be prevented if new vehicles come equipped with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, which enables a multitude of innovative crash-avoidance systems.
