Auto sector innovation shaped by focus shift from transport to technology

In just five years, the automotive industry has increased its presence on the Top 100 Global Innovators list by an impressive 233%

Driven by a combination of new legislation and changing consumer demands, the pace of innovation among automotive players is gaining speed. The segment has expanded its representation in the latest Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators list, which includes companies from a number of different industries. For the 2015 rankings, the automotive sector accounted for seven of the Top 100 spots, up from four in 2014. Since the start of the programme five years ago, the industry has increased its presence by an impressive 233%.
