Honeywell prepares for massive uptick in eco-friendly coolant

Despite lingering safety concerns from Daimler, demand for the low GWP coolant HFO-1234yf is poised to soar this year. By Megan Lampinen

Honeywell has high hopes for continued uptake of the automotive coolant HFO-1234yf, which it developed jointly with DuPont. The refrigerant has been welcomed by many automotive industry players for its low global warming potential (GWP) - less than 1. This is a dramatic improvement from the coolant it replaces, R-134a, which has a GWP of 1,300.
