Germany’s self-driving law ‘critical to development of autonomous driving tech’

Michael Nash takes a look at a recent bill passed by German authorities that will allow autonomous vehicles to be driven on public roads during the next two years

In February 2017, the German national Parliament proposed an amendment to the road traffic act (StVG) that would allow for autonomous cars to operate on public roads. This was subject to approval by the Bundesrat – the Federal Council – which has since agreed to pass the bill on two conditions.
