Despite industry-wide efforts to improve safety, the latest Large Truck and Bus Crash Facts report from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) shows an increase in the number of large trucks and buses involved in crashes in the US. In 2011, the latest year in which data is available, the number of large trucks involved in fatal crashes increased 3% year-on-year to 3,608 vehicles.
