Daimler comes out with contested coolant compromise

Daimler will launch its first CO2-based coolant systems in S- and E-Class models in 2017, but what about the rest of its range?

Daimler has come up with a compromise in the European air conditioning coolant controversy surrounding Honeywell and DuPont's R-1234yf. The OEM's refusal to use the coolant, the only mass market drop-in replacement available for R-134a, has already spurred court battles, cries of unfair advantage and threats from the European Commission.
