The promotional video for the Mercedes-Benz G-Code concept is unapologetically futuristic. In a pitch-black chamber, the grille lights up an eerie blue, before the backlights perform a lightshow of their own. The doors to the cabin swing open, and the insertion of a smartphone into a docket fires up the car. As the steering wheel emerges from the dashboard, the on-board navigation system plots a route through a range of frozen peaks and into the Beijing cityscape, whilst text messages from friends flash across the top of the display.
