Andreas Renschler’s surprise departure from Daimler, where he was widely considered to be in the running to succeed Dieter Zetsche, has led to speculation as to why. Had he lost the succession battle, moving on would have been expected - as did Eckhard Cordes when Zetsche was appointed. But he hasn’t.
