The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are among  the busiest in the world, handling more than 40% of US inbound waterborne container trade. For a city which already suffers heavily from traffic congestion and poor air quality, the impact of trucking has been a major concern for decades in Los Angeles. As such, ten years ago, the city and the neighbouring ports embarked on a period of significant change.
