BMW has recently announced plans to further its investments in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) segment. A BMW 3 Series plug-in hybrid prototype is soon to be launched, along with a new generation of hybrid concepts that will utilise technology currently found in BMW i models. The German OEM intends to offer PHEV versions of all its core-brand models, and as such will develop a component-integrating platform that can be shared across segments.
