The automotive industry is keen to share its views on autonomous vehicle technology with the US government, both the importance of its role in future market developments and the need to address certain areas of concern. On 19 November, Kirk Steudle, Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation (DOT) and the 2011 President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Subcommittee on Highway and Transit, about the many ways autonomous vehicles will shape the future of road transportation.
