AI will help automakers bear the strain of highly customised just-in-time production

Artificial intelligence in robots and automatically guided cobots will bring benefits to automakers as just-in-sequence production becomes the new normal. By Xavier Boucherat

Automakers such as Audi and PSA have gone public with their concepts of future manufacturing, which will feature leaner production and improve just-in-time techniques. For example, the French automaker’s vision for 2030 features a fully automated, streamlined and flexible process for parts transport and storage, with production orders triggered in real time by the customer.
