Despite a 25.1% rise in new car registrations in December, up to 90,553 units, total registrations in Spain for 2009 fell behind 2008 figures by 17.9%, dropping from 1,161,176 cars down to 952,772 units. The rise in December registrations was primarily the result of the low base effect.
