CO2 limits are becoming more commonplace in markets across the world as the concern over carbon levels continues to grow. In Europe, OEMs and suppliers are moving closer to the 95g/km CO2 target set for 2020. Ever more stringent fuel economy and emissions legislation is putting significant pressure on manufacturers, and this offers both challenges and opportunities. The LowCVP (Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership), a UK-based public-private partnership bringing together government, industry, and other stakeholders, works to accelerate a sustainable shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels, while creating opportunities for UK businesses, and has recently published two reports looking at how the UK can meet the 2020 deadline. The reports also consider how the UK could proceed to decarbonise road transport fuel in 2030 and beyond.
