The accessibility of electric vehicle (EV) charging points is one of the main barriers to the successful introduction of EVs, but there are several innovative projects looking to solve this. Anthony Thomson is Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Qualcomm. His role involves developing the wireless charging business globally, looking at markets, and customer targets. Thomson came to Qualcomm from a start-up called HaloIPT, which had the sole aim of developing wireless power for charging electric cars. That was sold to Qualcomm in October 2011. Thomson spoke to Automotive World about the future of wireless EV charging, and how one day EVs could charge as they drive down the motorway.
