Magna braces for ‘intense’ AV and EV investment requirements

Suppliers are investing heavily in R&D to support autonomous drive technology and electrification, but they may not see a return on that for some time. By Megan Lampinen

Expertise in the fields of electrification and autonomy comes at a cost, and players across the automotive supply chain face higher capital spending requirements. In its Global Automotive Supplier Study 2018, Roland Berger warned that the "accelerated change of technological focus requires further investment in new technologies such as ADAS and electrification, meaning an undue burden without a promise of quick returns."
