Truck crashes are a serious, deadly and costly problem to not only society, but also to the economy, and large truck crashes are on the rise. In 2012, nearly 4,000 people were killed and 104,000 more were injured in the US. The annual cost to society from crashes involving commercial vehicles is estimated at over US$99bn.
