Aggressive product development positions Ford for future trends

Analysts have been pressing Ford management for details on how it plans to finance its ambitions for alternative mobility and autonomy. Part of the answer was outlined at the Ford Uncovered event, writes Megan Lampinen

Trucks, SUVs and hybrids will take over Ford's model line-up in the next couple of years as the OEM positions itself to meet the needs of a rapidly changing market. Management outlined the near-term product plans at an event in Detroit on 15 March. The analyst community has been pushing for greater clarity on Jim Hackett's turnaround strategy, and calls have grown louder in recent months as market share and stock price slip. The 'Ford Uncovered' event shed some light on how the company intends to generate the profits needed to support investments in areas such as mobility services and autonomous drive technology.
