European automakers and suppliers are petitioning the European Commission (EC) to recalibrate its 2035 carbon emissions targets, arguing the current framework cannot realistically be executed. In a joint letter to EC President Ursula von der Leyen, industry associations ACEA and CLEPA offered a stark warning: “meeting the rigid car and van CO2 targets for 2030 and 2035 is, in today's world, simply no longer feasible”.
