For the first year of the competition, students from French design schools were asked to come up with an idea for the design of the actual trophy. ACF and the Eyes on Talents platform shortlisted 13 projects submitted by eight design schools.
The judging panel – chaired by Laurens van den Acker, Groupe Renault’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Design – comprised prominent figures from the community, including four members of Automobile Club de France. The panel met on September 14 at the ACF’s headquarters in Paris to select the winners.
Tobias Nickerl, a student of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI), won this year’s award. He received a cheque for €5,000 from Antar Daouk, Chairman of the ACF Awards.
The first runners-up were Kio-Anh Fortin and Alexandre Audigé (Strate School of Design), while Cédric Dupont (Kedge Design School) was the second runner-up.
The award ceremony was held on October 10 at the Paris Motor Show where Laurens van den Acker presented the winner and each of the runners-up with an aluminium scale model of the TREZOR, the concept car which starred on the Renault stand.
