One of in-vehicle connectivity’s most widespread benefits has been improved mapping and navigation. Since forming in 1991, Dutch company TomTom has become a giant within this space. One milestone in particular came during 2004, when the company released the world’s first ever portable navigation device (PND). Since then, it has developed a number of solutions for various sectors of the automotive industry, including a commercial vehicle (CV) PND, and has been working with OEMs to integrate software into trucks rolling off the line.
