Europe makes solid progress on CO2, on paper

Europe's new light vehicle fleet is getting cleaner, though the accuracy of the data used for the calculation remains in questions, writes Megan Lampinen

New light vehicles continue to clean up their emissions, with data from Jato Dynamics pointing to notable improvements across all European markets and almost all brands. For 2015, average CO2 emissions in Europe dropped by 4 g/km (3.2% year-on-year) to 119.3 g/km. Notably, the drop coincides with a 9.3% rise in vehicle registrations, emphasising the progress taking place.
