Immediate and long-term effects of the VW scandal could go further than recalls and a sales decline for the Group

The impact of the VW emissions scandal has been felt across the industry, and the ripple effect continues. Not only has the VW brand come under significant scrutiny, but other brands under the VW Group umbrella have also been linked to the scandal.

While some experts have suggested the situation will soon blow over, others are adamant that lasting effects could be drawn out for years to come. These could include a decline of sales at the VW Group, a drop in diesel sales in general, and a shift towards alternative powertrain architectures, according to Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Arun Chandranath.
