While the figures are still relatively low, electric vehicle (EV) sales are on the rise. In June 2014, over 4,000 plug-in EVs, or hybrids were registered in the UK. For pure electric vehicles there were 661 units sold in June 2014, an increase of 246.1% from June 2013. Research by Navigant suggests that the European car parc will include more than 2.9 million plug-in electric vehicles by 2020, which will be supported by more than 4.1 million EV charging stations. It is expected that the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Italy will account for more than 60% of EV supply equipment. Chargemaster, a leading provider of EV charging infrastructure in the UK and Europe, recently received a £3m investment from Beringea, the growth capital investor that manages the ProVen Venture Capital Trusts.
