Nissan is scheduled to break ground today (26 May) on a new battery plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. The plant will provide batteries for its upcoming Leaf electric vehicle, which is slated to enter production in Smyrna in December 2012.
The 1.3 million sq-ft battery plant will eventually produce 200,000 battery packs
