Mercedes-Benz Vans initiates attack on urbanisation and digitalisation trends

Michael Nash speaks to Volker Mornhinweg about the impact of a growing urban population and digitalisation on commercial vehicles

Mercedes-Benz Vans recently announced the launch of its adVANce initiative – a growth strategy that is centred upon leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT), developing new hardware-based solutions and creating new mobility concepts for on-demand transportation of goods and people. The company also presented the Vision Van – an all-electric concept vehicle that “combines various innovative solutions for last-mile delivery in urban and suburban environments.”

Speaking to Automotive World, Volker Mornhinweg, Director, Mercedes-Benz Vans, explained that a growing urban population and digitalisation are changing the way in which the company operates.
