Measured, managed, analysed: road haulage embraces IT

How is the haulage industry like race car driving? It's not a joke. The two segments are both heavily analysed to eke out every bit of efficiency possible, explains the RHA. By Megan Lampinen

Road haulage and the race track may fall at opposite ends of the automotive spectrum, but in both cases performance is top priority and electronic monitoring is the norm. "In principle, road haulage is witnessing the same sort of analysis that a Formula One (F1) racing car goes through," observed Jack Semple, Director of Policy at the UK-based Road Haulage Association (RHA).
