President Trump has nominated Jonathan Morrison to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a man who previously challenged Tesla's safety claims as the agency's chief counsel during Trump's first term. The NHTSA holds significant regulatory power over autonomous vehicle deployment, including Tesla's recently launched robotaxi service in Austin.
