Tesla’s downward spiral in Europe continues through April

The launch of the refreshed Model Y Juniper has done little to reverse an ongoing pan-continental backlash against Tesla. By Stewart Burnett

Tesla’s sales in Europe plummeted by 37.2% in the first four months of 2025, despite the region’s electric vehicle (EV) market experiencing substantial growth of 28%. The drop, largely attributed to intensifying backlash against Chief Executive Elon Musk’s persistent forays into far-right politics, has seen Tesla’s European market share shrink from 2.9% to 2% year-on-year.
