Mazda switches to “survival mode”, withholds guidance

Mazda was the fastest growing Japanese automaker in the US over the last 10 years, but plans are changing quickly. By Stewart Burnett

Mazda Motor has announced that it is switching to “survival mode” as it navigates a rocky trade environment selling its vehicles in the US. President Masahiro Moro revealed during the automaker’s latest investor’s call that tariffs could cost it JP¥9-10bn (US$60-67.5m) in April 2025 alone—as a result, the earnings forecast for 2025 is being withheld.
