China drafts new rules for ADAS safety

China now seeks public comment on its newly-drafted rules governing driver-assist technology. By Stewart Burnett

China is developing mandatory national safety standards for driver assistance systems following a now-infamous fatal crash involving a Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle back in March. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the draft proposal on 4 June, and has opened a public comment period that will run until 4 July.
