Toyoda Gosei’s capless fuel filler used for first time in Japan

Adopted for Nissan Motor Company's New Serena

Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. announced today that its capless fuel filler and plastic fuel filler pipe are being used on Nissan Motor Company’s new 2016 model Serena. This is the first vehicle produced and sold in Japan to use Toyoda Gosei’s capless device.

The parts will work together to help Toyoda Gosei improve the vehicle experience and increase fuel efficiency. The capless fuel filler eliminates the need for opening and closing the fuel cap, increasing convenience and ease of use when refueling. The plastic fuel filler pipe, which connects the fuel filler opening and tank, offers a lightweight alternative to metal fuel filler pipes. Together, the filler and pipe achieve a 40 percent weight reduction when compared to the use of a conventional fuel cap and a metal pipe, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.
