Rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards CBE played on some muddy pitches in his time – but never tackled anything like the conditions he had to contend with when he dropped in on Mercedes-Benz VanExperience Live 2016.
Attending the event as a shareholder of South Wales Mercedes-Benz Dealer Euro Commercials, Sir Gareth piloted a mighty Sprinter 4×4 over one of the country’s most demanding off-road courses, at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.
“I can now see why VanExperience Live is described as the ultimate test drive!” declared the man who is widely recognised as the greatest player ever to pull on the red jersey of Wales.
“The opportunity to test the Sprinter 4×4 up and down huge hills, and navigate through heavily rutted, slippery mud, is one I will long remember. Not only did it illustrate the amazing capability of this very impressive van perfectly, but it was also great fun.”
Now in its 13th year, VanExperience Live is open to all van operators, with visitors invited to assess the performance of Mercedes-Benz vans in three main hands-on demonstration areas:
- Drive It – A full range drive to experience the entire product line-up from Mercedes-Benz Vans, and compare them directly with competitors’ vehicles;
- Test It – The challenging off-road course, demonstrating the capabilities of the incredible Sprinter 6×6 as well as 4×4 vehicles;
- Trust It – A safety-focused activity, including an all-new wet grip handling experience.
