November 2012 Fiat-Chrysler Sales In Italy

For the month of November, Fiat Group posted a 29.7% share of the Italian auto market (+1.3 percentage points), with the market registering a 20.1% year-over-year decline. Fiat brand increased share to 21.8% (+1.6 p.p.). Positive results for the new 500L, with nearly 30,000 orders to-date from markets across Europe. Share gains for both Jeep and Lancia for the period January-November.

Despite extremely negative conditions in the Italian auto market, Fiat Group posted November sales of nearly 32,000 vehicles and increased market share to 29.7% (+1.3 p.p. year-over-year). Year-to-date, Group sales in Italy totaled more than 389,000 vehicles with market share increasing to 29.6% (+0.1 p.p. over the same period in 2011).

The Fiat brand also performed better than the market with November sales totalling more than 23,000 vehicles and share up 1.6 percentage points year-over-year to 21.8%. Year-to-date, brand sales passed the 276,000 vehicle mark, with share higher at 21% (+0.2 p.p. versus the same period in 2011).

The Panda was once again the best selling vehicle in Italy with November sales of more than 10,000 vehicles and a 47.7% share of the A segment. The Punto held the number two slot with 5,190 units sold and a 16.8% share of the B segment. The 500 also performed well with a 12.5% share of the A segment. Combined, the Panda and 500 accounted for more than 60% of A segment sales in November. Results were also extremely positive for the Freemont, leader in its segment with a 29% share, and the 500L, also leading its segment with a 26.2% share. More than 120,000 visitors attended Open House events at dealers across Europe to see the new 500L (with more than 20,000 taking a test drive) and nearly 30,000 orders have been placed so far (including some 5,000 orders for the limited “Opening Edition”).
Lancia sold nearly 5,200 vehicles in the month of November, with share increasing 0.2 percentage points over the prior month to 4.9%. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled more than 67,000 vehicles, with share 0.2 percentage points higher than the same period in 2011 at 5.1%.

The Lancia Ypsilon, the brand’s top selling model, continued in its popularity with customers placing among the top ten in Italy once again and taking a 10% share of the B segment.

Alfa Romeo registered November sales of 2,600 vehicles and a 2.5% share of the market. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled 39,600 vehicles with share at 3%. The Giulietta was among the top selling vehicles in the C segment once again in November with a 14.7% share.

Jeep posted November sales of 540 vehicles, with share up slightly over one year ago to 0.5% (+0.1 p.p. versus October 2012). Year-to-date, brand sales totaled more than 6,000 vehicles with share at 0.5%, increasing modestly over the same period in 2011. The brand’s best selling model, the Grand Cherokee, was one of the top vehicles in its segment with a 16.9% share.
