The Robert Bosch GmbH Automotive Aftermarket division, Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH and the ZF Service business area within ZF Friedrichshafen AG are planning to establish a joint venture, which will operate as a system center to provide full service offerings to multi-brand commercial vehicle workshops. The joint venture will be based in Greater Munich area and will initially have around ten associates. The formation of the joint venture is subject to the approval of the relevant antitrust authorities.

The joint venture’s full service offering will include a hotline, technical training and information, diagnostics, workshop equipment and quality management. The workshop franchise will initially be offered as an independent brand to commercial vehicle workshops in Germany toward the middle of next year. Following this, it will gradually be rolled out in other European countries.

The three founding members are among the leading international automotive and commercial vehicle suppliers, and their product range makes the transport sector more profitable and more sustainable. In addition to this range of products, the joint venture also encompasses extensive service expertise thanks to the long-established workshop franchises of the individual companies.

“Bosch already offers two internationally successful full service concepts in the passenger car workshop market: Bosch Car Service and AutoCrew. Based on this experience of workshop franchises and our expertise in the commercial vehicle industry, for example with regard to engines and electrics, we intend to work together with general partners Knorr-Bremse and ZF to offer these services to workshops that maintain and repair commercial vehicles too,” explains Robert Hanser, president of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Division.

“The growing technical complexity of commercial vehicle systems means that it is increasingly important that we improve the relevant expertise in workshops and thereby boost the competitiveness of these workshops in a sustainable manner. As a specialist for safety systems in the commercial vehicle sector, we are excited to be able to offer workshops personal advice in this area through this cooperation with Bosch and ZF and to help these workshops cope with the growing demands,” says Klaus Deller, member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG.

“With its comprehensive ZF Services ProTech franchise, ZF Services already offers workshops tailored support in drive and chassis technology. Together with our partners, we are now able to offer an even wider range of services,” explains Alois Ludwig, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ZF Services. He goes on to summarize the objective of the planned workshop franchise for commercial vehicles: “Commercial vehicle customers place particular importance on high quality and a flexible service. By means of this new franchise and by supplying tried-and-tested products in OE quality, we will provide support to workshops that are taking up this challenge in positioning themselves on the market.”
