DHL Freight, one of the leading providers of road freight services in Europe, announced today that Marc Bernitt has been appointed as new Head of Customs Management. Effective August 1, 2013, he will be responsible for the global development of DHL Freight’s customs business. Mr. Bernitt will report directly to Bernhard Wirth, Senior Vice President Operations, DHL Freight.

Marc Bernitt has more than 27 years of experience in the areas of foreign trade, customs law and international supply chains and extensive expertise in customs management. He has held various management positions during his career, among them with Archer Daniel Midland and Olympus Europe GmbH. Most recently, he successfully managed the Trade & Customs practice at KPMG Switzerland.
DHL Freight is one of the world’s largest customs brokers and handles millions of customs declarations each year across the company’s comprehensive geographical footprint. The company aims to further expand its customs business within the years ahead. Through the existing networks of DHL Freight and Gerlach, a customs specialist and subsidiary of DHL Freight, customs clearance will be further integrated in the company’s supply chain solutions in order to offer customers seamless services with a single point of contact.
