Citroën UK has revealed strong sales figures for the all-important September LCV + HCV market. Against a market that was down -22.8% compared to September last year, Citroën UK has shown a volume growth of 26.8% in the same period.
There is a similar story for the 2019 year-to-date position too, where the brand has seen sales increase by 9.8% in the nine months to the end of September, against a commercial vehicle market at 4.0%.
These bumper results mean an impressive September market share posting of 9.7%. In turn, this has positively impacted the overall year-to-date market share position, which now stands at 7.7%, placing Citroën once again amongst the leading brands within the LCV + HCV sector.
The French marque’s strong performance in September can be credited to a number of factors, be it readiness for the WLTP standards that came into effect on commercial vehicles in September 2019, or the strength of the multi-award winning Citroën product on offering.
Citroën’s latest LCV, New Berlingo Van – International Van of the Year 2019 – has consolidated its position on the podium in its segment with nearly 12,000 units sold year-to-date. September 2019 in particular saw unprecedented growth of almost 40% on the same period last year with the outgoing model.
Citroën Relay, the brand’s largest van, also recorded and increased sales figure in September, up 47% in the month, meaning and increase overall of 18% year-to-date. The Citroën Dispatch medium van also cemented its growth seeing uplifts of 16% and 18% for the month and year-to-date positions respectively, further adding to the boost in commercial vehicle market share.
