  • Anniversary bus marks the end of production of the Setra ComfortClass 400
  • More than 6550 vehicles of the successful Setra model series built

In its new S 415 GT Swabian bus operator “Teinachtal-Reisen” has taken delivery of a very special vehicle. The two-axle bus is the 50th Setra bus for the family-owned company from Neubulach in Germany, and at the same time it is also the last vehicle of the Setra ComfortClass 400 to be built.

The anniversary bus is equipped with 49 seats and will operate in the tourism and intercity business of Teinachtal-Reisen. The tradition-rich family-owned company from the northern Black Forest, which has been in existence for more than 100 years, operates its vehicles in regional school transport and line service as well as in tourist travel and charter services in the county of Calw and the greater Stuttgart area. Furthermore, Teinachtal-Reisen offers ski trips, bicycle tours, day and weekend excursions as well as student trips throughout Europe. Helmut Maier, who leads the company already in the fourth generation, grew up with the buses from the venerable Ulm-based brand: “I have always associated the name Setra with advanced vehicle technology, smooth handling and great all-round service”. The fleet of Teinachtal-Reisen currently includes 12 Setra buses – from the S 415 GT to the S 431 DT double-decker bus.

Setra ComfortClass 400 on a successful course in 33 countries

The last S 415 GT built at the EvoBus manufacturing plant in Neu-Ulm marks the end of the successful Setra ComfortClass 400 era for the brand of Stuttgart-based Daimler AG. All in all 6551 units were built between 2004 and the end of this year, with deliveries to customers in 33 European countries. The best-seller is the S 415 GT-HD, of which more than 2600 units were sold. The seven vehicle variants of the ComfortClass 400 combine sophisticated comfort with economically attractive operating costs. With the high-floor and high-decker buses for excursions, long-distance tourist travel or line service Setra realised an innovative length concept as early as ten years ago. Already at that time Setra took advantage of the rescission of the provision that touring coaches could not exceed 12 metres in length to offer noticeably more space in the interior and in the front entrance area.

Next generation has already earned multiple awards

The new Setra ComfortClass 500 from Daimler Buses was introduced in 2012, and has demonstrated outstanding energy efficiency in a spectacular Record Run. A reduction in fuel consumption by 8.2 percent compared with the previous model is clear evidence of the progress made. In mid-October 2013 the new coach generation was voted “Coach of the Year 2014″ at Europe’s most important bus show in Kortrijk by a panel of experts comprising 19 European bus journalists. In addition, the S 515 HD model of the Setra ComfortClass 500 won the “Green Coach Award 2014″ from German magazines “Omnibusrevue” (Bus and Coach Review) and “Busfahrer” (Bus Driver) due to its low fuel consumption.
