What do US import tariffs mean for Brazilian automotive?

Automotive products from Brazil don't currently face a 50% import tariff, but a trade war could hurt the industry on both sides. By Will Girling

From 1 August 2025, the US will impose a 50% import tariff on goods from Brazil, a rate that the country's Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services confirms will impact 35.9% of its exports. Specific items affected include coffee, beef and ethanol, but automotive products currently remain at the blanket 25% rate imposed back in May.
