Emerging from the diesel scandal to become an EV leader won't be easy. VW's also counting on a big push into SUVs and success in the US market, where it has struggled for years. By Megan Lampinen

Further details have emerged on Volkswagen's efforts to put the diesel scandal far behind it. A revised corporate strategy, called Transform 2025+, comes just five days after the unveiling of the Zukunftspak (pact for the future), which addresses a widespread manufacturing realignment and job cuts. This new strategy flags the future direction of the brand and pinpoints some ambitious targets, but in today's rapidly evolving industry nothing is guaranteed.
