Transmission tech on the road to 54.5mpg

Meeting the US 54.5mpg deadline will be tough, says Christopher Nevers of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (AoAM)

By 2025, fleet consumption in the US is to be reduced to 54.5mpg, and transmission technology will play a key role in meeting this target. The CAFE standard was announced by Barack Obama in 2011, and in May, industry experts met in Michigan to discuss the contribution that transmission technology can make to help achieve this target.
