Tesla is taking its 'billionth mile' milestone as a testament to safety and marking the landmark with the launch of a global road tour. The OEM has announced that the global fleet of Model S units have travelled more than one billion miles in the three years since the model arrived on the market. This means drivers have travelled the equivalent of over 4,000 trips to the moon, or almost 40,000 times around the Earth, in their all-electric sedans. By driving this distance in an emission-free vehicles, Model S owners have saved more than half a million tons of CO2.
