Spanish production network overlap puts pressure on Zaragoza

Opel has been struggling to hammer out a new labour deal for its Zaragoza plant, now the third Spanish facility in the larger PSA network. By Megan Lampinen

PSA was hailed as a saviour for Opel/Vauxhall last year when it acquired the struggling operations from General Motors. However, Chief Executive Carlos Tavares made it clear he expected to see cost saving changes, and soon. Much of the attention so far has focussed on Vauxhall's production operations in the UK, where slowing domestic sales and the complications of Brexit have piled on the pressure for concessions. But it's not just the UK.
