As the number of road users in emerging markets continues to skyrocket, so too does the need to improve road safety. The situation in India makes this clear - the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that in 2013 there were more than 231,000 driving-related deaths in the country, with approximately half involving vulnerable road users. Factors included the heterogeneous mix of traffic and unsafe infrastructure.
