Safety content, not structure, lets down Latin American models

The latest round of Latin NCAP testing sees the BYD F0 with zero stars and the Fiat New Palio drop from four stars to two, writes Megan Lampinen

Another round of testing, another round of disappointment for Latin American safety, but not without some promising surprises. The New Car Assessment Programme for the Latin America region (Latin NCAP) has given the BYD F0 a zero-star rating for adult protection while the rating on the Fiat New Palio has dropped to just one star under the new assessment protocol. "Both results are clearly not good," Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Latin NCAP, told Automotive World. "However, there is also a positive takeaway on the results."
