Put it in perspective: US plateau far from last big downturn

US light vehicle sales fell in April but the macroeconomic fundamentals remain strong, writes Megan Lampinen

While April's US light vehicle market contained a few wild cards, they are not enough to explain away the widespread decline in volumes. New car and light truck sales slipped about 4-5% year-on-year (YoY), with most brands coming in short of expectations.
