Powertrain investment piling up in Thailand

Despite declining production and the political uncertainty in Thailand, BMW has lined up investment to locally produce engines

Thailand's automotive industry is struggling, hit by declining domestic sales, which are down significantly year-on-year. The best that can be said for the local market is that the rate of decline has slowed. The year started with a 45.5% decline in January 2014; in October, the drop was 20.5%. In all, 70,761 vehicles were sold in Thailand in October, according to figures released by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
