Overhead lines or inductive charging? Scania keeps its options open

The Swedish OEM will carry out new tests into overhead charging technology, but is also keeping an eye on inductive charging

Scania has announced that it will commence new tests for electric trucks in February 2016. The company hopes to examine the benefits of conductive technology, which uses overhead power lines that supply electricity to trucks equipped with a pantograph power collector. However, at the same time the OEM says it will continue to examine and develop inductive charging technologies.
