Lead-acid batteries (LABs) have been a popular source of energy storage for the last century. They are currently used widely across many industries, including automotive. A recent study by market research company Technavio forecasts strong growth in the global automotive LAB market. Between 2014 and 2019, it expects a CAGR of 2.92% in terms of units.
But with the ongoing development of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs), nickel-zinc (NiZn) batteries and others, the future for LABs in the automotive industry looks challenging.
