India’s top truck execs expect major industry overhaul

Executives have their say on the outlook for trucking in India during HD Truck Pune. The future’s bright, but don’t expect advances to mimic developed markets, writes Freddie Holmes

India’s trucking industry is due to see more change in the next ten years than it has over the last 50, but those advances will nonetheless lag behind the commercial vehicle industries of developed markets.

That’s according to a panel of Indian vehicle manufacturers speaking at HD Truck Pune in December 2016. The event, hosted by Automotive Megatrends, took a closer look at the key issues facing the Indian trucking industry, with an eye to the next decade and beyond. Four executives from heavy-duty (HD) truck manufacturers AMW Motors, Mahindra Truck and Bus, Tata Motors and VE Commercial Vehicles took to the stage as part of the opening panel discussion.
